Cajoled by neighbors to build a wine cave back in 2002, Jane Chapin hired the drilling crew to cut into a
rock hillside below the Palisades at 4 Winds. Countless dinners and tastings later, we’re so happy she did.
Nestled in the landscape where a knoll rises near the guest house, a patio leads to the Y-shaped cave that stays a naturally cool 55-60 degrees Fahrenheit, year-round. In the rooms inside we keep a chateau stack of wine barrels and a tasting table—an estate library of 4 Winds vintages, along with our private wine collection.
The rock-walled cave blends into the rocky scenery, a near-hidden bunker for an occasional dinner with friends or costumed poker night—and we’ve even hosted an unforgettable, mini disco party. Toasting now to the cave, one of our favorite places at 4Winds.
